Light vs Dark Garment Pretreatment: Which One Do You Need?

Pretreatment is the invisible step behind every good DTG print. Choosing the right type depends mainly on the color of the garment.

Light garments

On white and light colors you usually print CMYK only. A light-garment pretreatment helps the color ink bond to the fibers, which gives brighter prints and better wash results.

Medium and dark garments

Dark garments need a white underbase. A dark-garment pretreatment helps the white ink sit on top of the fibers so it stays bright and smooth, with colors printed over it.

Test before production

Every blank behaves a little differently. Run a test on the exact garment before a big order and adjust the spray amount and curing until you are happy with the result.
